Wood
flooring, like any other floor, must be cleaned and maintained for a
long life. However, contrary to popular belief, wood floors are very
easy to look after Here is some advice - if you want to know more or
have a specific question not covered here, please do not hesitate to

For routine cleaning, you only need to vacuum or dry mop the
floor. Clean occasionally with a damp, well wrung cloth or
slightly damped mop. Do not use too much water when cleaning
marks are easy to remove with mild cleaners.
Lacquered floors are, for the most part, largely
maintenance-free for the first 10 - 20 years. Floors with a 4mm
wear layer can be resanded 2 - 4 times, followed by your
preferred surface treatment.
UV-oiled floors are as easy to look after as laquered floors.
Vacuum or dry mop routinely and clean with a damp cloth when
necessary. After extended or hard wear, treat with Oil
Refresher. |
 |
Fit protective
pads , caster cups etc. to furniture to avoid unnecessary marks
and scratches.
Never have metal
objects in contact with oiled floors - they may mark the
surface.
Floors are
protected by their surface finish and withstand spills. Just
wipe them up carefully straight away.
Most marks can be
removed using wood floor cleaner or our spray wood cleaner. For more difficult marks please refer to us. |
Stop dirt at the entrance! Wipe your feet on a stiff mat outside
to avoid bringing in water and grit. A textile mat just inside
the door provides good additional protection. |
Where there is a risk of water spillage, e.g. kitchens, an extra
coat of laquer may be needed after laying the floor. |
Beech is particularly sensitive to water - an additional coat of
laquer is required if there is a risk of water spillage. |
Natural oiled floors are best maintained immediately after
laying. |
Ideally, protect
the floor with a mat in vulnerable areas. |
Are there small
scratch marks on the floor? Apply a Touch-up product to conceal
minor damage. 'Freshenup' will blend in minor marks. |
Wood
Floors Mature Differently
Because wood floors are manufactured from natural raw materials, their
colour tones mature when they are exposed to light. Here you can see how
different wood species change:
